HUNDREDS of fans are expected to boycott tomorrow’s big soccer match at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Only 400 Hull City fans have bought tickets for the game against Huddersfield Town.

And it is believed the lack of sales is part of an unofficial boycott of the game by Hull fans angry at tough police restrictions.

Fanzines and supporters’ groups have urged supporters not to buy the tickets but to go to Huddersfield and take part in a mass protest about the policing restrictions.

West Yorkshire Police have imposed tough restrictions.

The South Stand at the stadium can accommodate 4,000 fans and promotion-chasing Hull would be expected to fill it.

But police said only 1,700 tickets could be sold and all fans must follow strict travel arrangements.

A police spokesman said: “We are aware of the protest and appropriate policing arrangements are in hand for both that and the game.”

Meanwhile, a football family at war will be united tomorrow – at least for a while.

The march is expected to attract fans from both clubs in the wake of the tough police restrictions.

And joining supporters on the march will be Peter Clark, his son Leigh, his daughter Helen and her boyfriend George.

Peter and Leigh are both staunch Hull fans, while Helen and George follow Town.

Peter, who has lived in Almondbury for 25 years, said: “I followed Hull as a boy and kept the faith.

“Leigh, who is 22 and at university in Nottingham, has followed me and we’ll both be in the stadium tomorrow as Hull fans.

“Helen, 26, is a Town fan and George is too, even though he grew up in Goole.

“We’ll all be on the protest as it seems so daft to have all the restrictions. There has never been trouble between the two clubs”.

The march starts at the railway station at 2.15pm.
