Kashmir Spice owner Mohammed Haleem to contest Greenhead for the Lib Dems

A LIB Dem is hoping to takeaway one of Labour’s seats on Kirklees Council.

A LIB Dem is hoping to takeaway one of Labour’s seats on Kirklees Council.

Mohammed Haleem, who owns Kashmir Spice on Bradford Road in Fartown, will contest Greenhead on May 5.

Mr Haleem said he would focus on the fight to reinstate a bowling green at the proposed new sports centre at Springwood.

“I support totally the bowlers’ campaign to have flat-green bowling reinstated into the new sports centre,’’ he said.

“It is a very popular and healthy activity, particularly for older people, many of whom get great benefit and pleasure from it.

The Lib Dems will do all they can to keep it.”

Mr Haleem added: “I am committed to working for all the community and I’m fed up with the increasing neglect by the current councillors.

“With my team of helpers I am currently visiting all parts of the ward and am very much encouraged by the positive reaction on the doorstep.”
