A GO-AHEAD businesswoman from Huddersfield has been highly rated.

Kate Hardcastle, 30, was a finalist in the Yorkshire Woman of Achievement Awards.

Kate, who grew up in Fartown, was shortlisted in the category for businesswomen.

She joined other finalists in the awards ceremony at Leeds United's Elland Road ground.

Kate, who now lives in Halifax, was born at the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital and went to Ashbrow Junior and Infant School at Sheepridge.

She is marketing director of the Halo Group, a furniture design and manufacturing firm based in Altrincham, Cheshire.

She was recognised for her "determined approach to business" in rising from fashion assistant to director level.

Kate has 10 years experience in interior design, working with bed firms Jay-Be and Silentnight before being recruited by Halo.

She has previously won more than 17 industry awards, including Young Marketer of the Year.
