JENNIE O’SULLIVAN will be getting her skates on next week looking to keep her 100% roller hockey tournament record rolling on.

The 10-year-old from Mount, who plays in goal for Halifax Roller Hockey Club Under 11’s, is set to compete in her fourth tournament in Manchester, having enjoyed remarkable success so far in her short 14-month career.

Dad Mick explained: “In the three tournaments she’s played she’s won every match and was voted player of the tournament in one of them.”

Jennie got involved in the sport after seeing a leaflet sent round to schools in Huddersfield inviting people interested to attend a trial.

According to her dad Mick, she has no regrets about taking up the sport: “She really enjoys it and trains two hours every Saturday in Halifax. We only live 15-20 minutes away so it’s not too far to travel,” he added.

The Moorlands Primary School pupil is looking forward to keeping goal for her club in two tournaments in Lancashire over the next few weeks against Manchester and Moss Side.

There are only a handful of teams in the North of England that play the sport and they usually compete together in one knockout tournament at different venues including Middlesbrough and Grimsby.

There are a few other players that travel from Huddersfield to play for Halifax but there are plans to raise the profile of the sport in the area and attract more people to get involved in roller hockey.
