A Marsh woman was abusive to police who came her aid after she said she was assaulted by a nightclub bouncer.

Kelly Wilson was on the ground outside the Camel Club in Huddersfield town centre when the officers arrived.

She then dialled 999 again - to report that her handbag has been stolen.

Wilson, of Syringa Street, pleaded guilty to charges of being drunk and disorderly in public and resisting a constable in the execution of his duty.

Kirklees magistrates heard that the incident happened just after 4am on July 9.

Police were travelling along John William Street when they noticed the disturbance outside the nightclub.

Alex Bozman, prosecuting, said: “The lady was on the floor and when they arrived she was shouting and swearing at the door staff.

“An officer asked her to move away but she carried on shouting and swearing.

“She said that she had been assaulted by a bouncer and when he tried to investigate she became abusive towards him.

“There was then an issue with her handbag and that point she called police and demanded further action”.

The court heard Wilson, 24, ignored a further warning about her behaviour and was arrested at the scene.

She then struggled with one of the officers as he was putting her in handcuffs, causing the officer a minor injury.

Magistrates heard that Wilson broke her arm during the course of the evening. Her solicitor Bob Carr said that this happened as police dealt with her but that there was no suggestion that there was any wrongdoing on their part.

Mr Carr told the court that drink had played a part in his client’s actions.

He said: “When somebody misplaced her handbag she wanted to gain entry to recover it.

“She eventually became an offender because of her conduct.”

Magistrates fined Wilson £90 and ordered her to pay £150 court charge, £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
