A STROKE patient returned to the hospital ward where he was treated to present a £765 boost.

Ken Giles, 59, visited staff in Ward 21 at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary to deliver money raised by his work colleagues.

Staff at Sainsbury’s store on Market Street wanted to raise cash for the unit after seeing the excellent care Ken received following a stroke in April.

About 20 workers took part in a seven-mile sponsored walk on Marsden Moor to help pay for new equipment in the stroke rehabilitation unit.

Ken, of Newsome, said: “I can’t thank the staff enough for what they did for me.

“They were absolutely brilliant. I knew they didn't have a lot of money to buy equipment, so I mentioned doing something to help to my bosses and they came up with the idea of the walk.’’

The father-of-two also praised his colleagues for all the help and support he has received.
