THIEVES broke into a Fixby house after seeing car keys left on a kitchen work surface.
They took the keys and then drove off in the victim's new silver VW Golf.
Police today warned others to learn from the burglary which happened on The Fairway at 4am yesterday.
Pc Dave McSweeney, of Huddersfield police, said: "We continue to urge people never to leave their car keys, wallets, mobile phones or other valuables on kitchen work surfaces, where they can be seen by opportunist thieves peering in."
Anyone who sees the car, number YE04 YKH, should call the police.
