DEDICATED volunteer community worker Kiran Bali has received her MBE at Buckingham Palace.
The 30-year-old from Fartown received the award in the Queen’s New Year Honours list.
Ms Bali is the youngest magistrate in Huddersfield and has been a volunteer for 16 years.
She is seen with her MBE, which was awarded for her services to community relations in West Yorkshire.
Ms Bali has served as a director of Kirklees Racial Equality Council and the Active Faith Communities programme. She has also chaired the Huddersfield Interfaith Council and is a director of Yorkshire and Humber Faiths Forum.
She works to enhance the contribution of faith communities and to challenge discrimination.
Her other achievements include founding and developing an elderly people’s group to help reduce poverty and social isolation.
She was also appointed an International Ambassador for Peace in 2006.
