A DAD is running the London marathon to support his daughter and children like her who have cerebral palsy.

Martin Bown, 39, of Kirkburton, is aiming to raise money for two charities which help children with disabilities.

His daughter Isabella, three, weighed just 2lbs 14oz when she was born 10 weeks early.

She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and dad Martin and mum Tina send her to the Paces School in Sheffield which supports children with the condition.

Martin is running 26.2miles for her and said: “I’ve done a 20 mile race and got another coming up. The running isn’t too bad but the commitment to training is a lot more difficult than I first thought.”

He’ll run for Whizz-Kids, a charity which provides wheelchairs to get children moving, and for Cerebra which works with children who have brain injuries.

Accountant Martin, who is also dad to one-year-old Joseph, added: “I’m running the London marathon for the first time for two charities – one that has supported our family and one that we anticipate probably will in the future.”
