CARETAKER Dave Ellis said goodbye to his locks yesterday.

The Kirklees College caretaker agreed to have his head and beard shaved to raise money for Kirkwood Hospice.

Dave makes a donation to the hospice from his wage each month and has now been challenged by his colleagues to go one better.

The college’s hairdressing student of the year, Natasha Whiston, 27 from Birkby, shaved off his long locks.

John McNamara, fellow caretaker said: “Dave is a familiar face around the college and colleagues have really gone all-out to support his fundraising.

“He first agreed to shave his beard and if we managed to hit the £200 mark, Dave said he would shave his head too. We’re now well above that target with over £300.”
