SIX-FIGURE funding has been secured for children’s activity programmes in Kirklees during next year’s school holidays.
More than £100,000 has been allocated to the Young People’s Holiday Activity Programme, which is designed to help local youngsters stay busy with sport, recreation, adventure activities, green projects and the arts.
About a third of the money is specifically for short breaks activities which provide high quality opportunities and positive life experiences for disabled children and young people, as well as a break for their parents and carers.
Groups in the voluntary and community sector can apply for funding to provide holiday activities that are free of charge. Projects need to cover age ranges eight to 12 and 13 to 19, but the age limit rises to 25 for disabled people.
