Kirklees Council staff are still trying to cope with a backlog of unemptied dustbins in Huddersfield – 11 days after snow brought problems.
Many households were left with uncollected wheeled bins last week because of the snow and ice blocking local roads.
But now Kirklees Council has pledged to do what it can to cope with the bins.
Some grey and green wheeled bins will be collected at the same time – but the contents will be burned to produce electricity.
The combined contents cannot be recycled but can go through the waste to energy plant at Hillhouse, which burns rubbish and produces power for thousands of homes.
A Kirklees spokesman said: “The service is working to catch up missed bins from last week using additional crews where possible.
“In a few areas the crews will be emptying both bins into the same vehicle in order to get back to normal quickly.
“However, householders are assured that even when this occurs the waste does not go to landfill but is burnt to generate electricity.
“If both grey and green bins have been due and are uncollected, then householders may leave both out.”
