A winter emergency phone line has been re-opened to help elderly, isolated and housebound residents over the coldest months.

Emergency teams are on standby to help people in need.

Kirklees Council has re-launched its emergency adverse winter weather telephone line on 01484 414888.

Kirklees Council Gateway to Care, health officials and volunteers will provide a visit to those who may be experiencing difficulty with shopping for daily essentials or who may have run out of medication.

Clr Molly Walton, Kirklees Cabinet member for adult social care, said: “We are asking people to look out for their vulnerable neighbours, to call in and say hello and to check if they need anything.

“Older people can sometimes go days without seeing or talking to anyone, and we can all do our bit to help.”

Tenants can also contact Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing if they are worried about someone.
