PLANNERS will rule on two major mill redevelopments next week.

Decisions on the housing proposals for Newsome Mills and Hinchliffe Mill in Holmbridge were delayed because of the snow.

Members of Kirklees Council’s Huddersfield Planning Sub-committee had been due to visit the sites before this month’s meeting on December 2.

But the trips were called off because of heavy snow.

Sub-committee members will visit the sites on Thursday morning before next month’s meeting, which begins at Huddersfield Town Hall at 1pm.

Councillors will decide if Panorama Living can set up 69 homes at Newsome Mills.

The Manchester-based company wants to develop the Grade-II listed 19th Century mill, which has fallen into disrepair since it closed in 1983.

The sub-committee will also rule on a plan to convert Hincliffe Mill at Holmbridge into seven apartments.

Developer MD One also wants to build 12 two-storey homes on the 1.9 hectare site.

Three residents have written to Kirklees objecting to the plan, saying it would lead to an increase in traffic on Water Street.

Holme Valley Parish Council has also objected, saying the proposal would lead to over-development of the area.
