OVER-75s are being offered free checks to help them stay safe in their own homes.
Mears Home Improvement team – based at Slaithwaite – will be visiting Kirklees homes for free from April 16 to 20 to celebrate World Health Day.
The group of handymen will be completing full safety checks covering security, trip, electrical and fire hazards.
They will then be able to carry out the work for free or recommend other agencies who can help.
Branch manager Cheryl Armstrong said: “We will be able to tell them what needs doing. It could be simple things to stop them falling like not having enough lighting in the kitchen or making sure they don't electrocute themselves.”
The Council-funded service is designed to help vulnerable people stay in their own homes safely to avoid going into hospital or residential care.
