LOCAL people can get involved in the final countdown to London 2012 with ‘Open Weekend’ events across Kirklees.
July 22 to 24 will see free taster sessions at sports venues across Kirklees, giving everyone a chance try out new activities in celebration of the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Across the UK, as part of the London 2012 Open Weekend supported by BP, there is a series of sporting and cultural events which will see thousands of people joining in the fun.
There’s something for every age and organisers hope the Open Weekend will inspire people to take up a new activity on a regular basis.
The Open Weekend is not just about sports as there will also be a chance to try out a new arts or crafts, to learn a language or to volunteer within the community.
The three previous Open Weekends have seen over 2.4 million people across the UK unleash their creativity across a series of sporting, art and cultural activities.
