Leading north Kirklees businesses met with the mayor at a special event.

Dozens of company heads met with Clr Paul Kane at Dewsbury Town Hall for the first in a series of Business Lectures he is hosting during his mayoral year.

He invited Larry Hirst, the Dewsbury-born international business leader and former Chairman of IBM Europe to be guest speaker and relay his corporate experiences and take on what the future holds for business.

Mr Hirst said: “I was delighted to accept Paul’s kind invitation.

“It’s always good to be back in my hometown, particularly when there’s an opportunity to meet and share experiences with like-minded individuals.”

Clr Kane also talked about his ambitions for his year in office.

The event was the first in a series of business lectures which the Mayor will be hosting over the next 12 months. The next business lecture is scheduled for 16 September in Huddersfield, and features University of Huddersfield Vice-Chancellor Bob Cryan as guest speaker.

Those wanting to receive an invitation to the next business lecture should email their details to mayors.office@kirklees.gov.uk
