A decision affecting education in Almondbury could be scrutinised by councillors.

Cabinet members agreed to proceed with plans for an all through school that would see a merger of Almondbury High, Almondbury Juniors and Greenside Infant and Nursery School on the high school site.

But Conservative leader, Clr Robert Light, has raised concerns about the decision-making process and wants a scrutiny review.

His view is that “Cabinet had not considered or has chosen to ignore the views of the vast majority of respondents to the consultation.”

Clr Light also suggests that rather than an educational decision, the main driver was financial.

He has now sought a Scrutiny review into Cabinet’s decision.

The Overview and Scrutiny Management Committee will consider Clr Light’s Scrutiny request at 10am on Tuesday.
