BOXERS from throughout Kirklees will take on Cypriot boxers in a one-off showdown.

And they roped in Huddersfield Giants star Eorl Crabtree to help them out.

The rugby star was at Rawthorpe Amateur Boxing Club to promote the event, which is in aid of a huge sports festival for young people.

The amateur boxers will face a team from Cyprus in a unique fundraising event.

Members of the Huddersfield University amateur boxing club will join forces with the Rawthorpe and Cleckheaton clubs.

They will take on the international team at a black tie event at the Galpharm Stadium.

The event is part of the celebration of local sporting legends and to raise money for the Kirklees Youth Games sporting legends fund.

The Youth Games – a massive project involving thousands of local children – will culminate in a huge event at the Galpharm Stadium in July.

Money raised on the boxing night will be use to encourage young people to take part in different sports.

The gala dinner, including a three course meal, will take place on Friday, May 30, and local sports stars are set to attend the event.
