A COMMUNITY of volunteers got a bite of the action as they joined forces to enjoy lunch.
The event, Let’s Get Together, was staged yesterday by Volunteering Kirklees, at Standedge Visitors Centre, in Marsden.
The function was based on the success of the Eden Project’s Big Lunch in Cornwall which aimed at bringing neighbours together.
Volunteering Kirklees invited its helpers to attend their picnic lunch, which coincided with Volunteers Week.
Outreach development worker Sharron Wilkinson, said: “From helping as a school governor, to helping offenders and carrying out general administration, there is so much that goes on in our community.”
As a special thank you to volunteers, British Waterways offered free boat trips to those who attended.
