STUDENT Kirsty Smith has wowed teachers - by gaining an incredible 11 A* grades and one A in her GCSE results!

Delighted Kirsty, 16, of Honley, collected her results with classmates at Honley High School today.

"I'm very pleased, I didn't expect it," said Kirsty, who added that as well as studying she still found time for fun and hobbies, including playing the violin.

"I put a lot of work in, but I have done a lot of other fun stuff as well," she said.

Kirsty will go to Greenhead College, Huddersfield, next year to study maths, music, French and physics.

Deputy head teacher Christian Markham, said: "She has done fabulously well. She has worked extremely hard and is multi-talented outside of school.

"We are very proud of her."
