POLICE today made a new appeal for witnesses to a violent robbery in Golcar.

New information has come to light about the robbery at Hair By Josette – and police hope it will jog the memory of people who may have witnessed the incident or seen the suspects running away.

The robbery took place at the Scar Lane salon at 4.20pm on November 9.

Two men – both aged around 17 – entered the salon brandishing knives.

One man stood by the door while the other grabbed the terrified salon owner, put his arm around her neck and held his knife to her throat.

He dragged her over to the till and removed cash from it. A purse was also stolen.

The two men then ran out of the salon and escaped in the direction of the Royal British Legion club.

Police now know the route they took, after finding some of the stolen property discarded.

The men ran down a snicket by the Royal British Legion club and through Scar Wood, before heading down Ramsden Mill Lane on to Manchester Road at Linthwaite.

Det Con Russ Conlon said police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed their escape.

“We need members of the public to realise the amount of violence that was used and we now have a route which they have taken. We would like anybody who maybe saw something to contact us.”

Both suspects wore black balaclavas and dark trousers – one pair with three white stripes down the side. Both suspects’ clothes were paint spattered.
