TIME is fast running out for an unknown Huddersfield lottery winner to claim their £250,000 prize.

The forgotten win, one of the National Lottery's largest unclaimed amounts, was left over after a Thunderball draw on August 30 last year.

Lottery chiefs traced the winning ticket to the Huddersfield area and began to search for the owner.

But after a series of unsuccessful appeals through the Press and on the TV lottery show, the winner now has only until February 26 to produce the missing ticket.

If still unclaimed after this date the money will be given to various good causes.

A Camelot spokeswoman today urged Huddersfield lottery players to have a final check for the winning ticket.

She said: "It's so frustrating that someone in the area is unknowingly sitting on a small fortune."

The ticket's winning numbers are 18, 21, 24, 25 and 26, with Thunderball number 3.

If anyone believes they have a winning ticket they should call 0845 910 0000.
