A CHARITY wants companies to take up a new challenge – make money grow.

The Laura Crane Trust today throws the gauntlet down to businesses across Kirklees to come up with ways to turn just £10 into a cash bonanza for the Mayor of Kirklees Karam Hussain’s two charities – the Trust and Dewsbury and District Hospital Diabetes Centre Appeal.

Sarah Webb, regional events and community fundraiser for The Laura Crane Trust, said: “All we want companies to do is earmark a tenner for the £10 Challenge and then ask employees to come up with innovative ways to make that money grow. All they have to do is register with us that they are doing it.

“People will have all of April to make that money grow – it could be they buy and sell stuff on ebay or use the £10 to fund another cash-spinning idea. Our ultimate aim is to have a glittering lunch to reveal the challenge’s winners at the end of April.

“These will be the company which has raised the most money for the Mayor’s charities with the tenner and the business which has devised the most innovative cash-spinning idea.

“This really is a case where the only limitation is your imagination.’’

Sarah added: “We know times are harsh out there for businesses which is why we only want them to come up with a tenner in the first instance. If they turn that amount into a lot more for us who knows, it may be it ends up giving them a whole new business idea too!”

Sarah also said it would be great if businesses also wanted to sponsor the challenge.
