COMEDIAN Peter Kay switched Brighouse Christmas lights on ... well, almost.

For the ceremony was carried out by the larger-than-life Lancashire comic's double, Lee Lard, who is pictured centre.

He flicked the switch for the town's Christmas lights in Thornton Square at 6.30pm last night.

Festive songs were played and a children's fairground was set up for the night in Bradford Road outside Brighouse Civic Hall.

Members of Thornhill Briggs WMC collected money for the Mayor of Calderdale's charity appeal in aid of the special care baby unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax.
