FRIENDS of a Holme Valley couple whose baby girl was born with a serious heart condition are holding a charity auction.

Jodie Green and partner Christopher Pollitt, who live at Brockholes, had baby Charlie four months ago.

But at four-weeks, Charlie had to be rushed into hospital with two holes in her heart and a condition called transposition – where the two main arteries from the heart are the wrong way round.

Charlie is now doing well after having open heart surgery to correct the arteries and repair the holes in her heart – although she will have to see specialists for the rest of her life.

Now Jodie’s friends, led by Kirsty Mitchell, are holding a charity auction at 2pm on Sunday above Brambles Bar and Cafe in Holmfirth to raise cash for the Leeds Heart Foundation.

Admission for adults is £2 and free for children. Attractions will also include a raffle, face-painting and live entertainment.

Said Kirsty: “We have received many items to donate from local businesses and people who have heard about Charlie.

“We are hoping it will be a fun day, but also successful with raising money and awareness.”
