KIRKLEES councillors have clashed over leisure plans.
Dalton Lib Dem Clr Roger Battye wants to encourage more activities in the Leeds Road corridor.
Ideas include abseiling on Dalton Bank, canoeing on Huddersfield Broad Canal and a cycle route on Kilner Bank.
Clr Battye said: “It’s using what’s already there and developing it for the public with things like cycling and fishing.
“I want to make sure we get the best use out of the area.”
This week Clr Battye asked Kirklees’s Huddersfield South Area Committee to pay £30,000 for a feasibility study into the proposal.
But a fellow Dalton councillor, Labour’s Peter McBride, said Clr Battye had not asked him about the plan.
He said: “I’m happy for this to happen, but Clr Battye hasn’t consulted me on this.”
The area committee, which covers Almondbury, Newsome, Dalton, Crosland Moor and Netherton, approved the spending.
