A Lepton pre-school was able to splash out on new bikes and trikes – thanks to the money raised by the Examiner Wish Campaign in 2012.

This year they are calling on the community to get collecting again so they can buy a secure shed to store them in.

Just For Fun, based in the former caretaker’s bungalow at Lepton CE School, raised more than £200 from last year’s Wish pot. Now, the charity which runs a pre-school, after-school club and holiday playscheme is hoping to raise even more to continue its fundraising mission.

Assistant supervisor Tracey Nutton said: “We have a huge garden and last year fundraised to buy lots of new bikes and outdoor play equipment.

“Now we need somewhere safe and sturdy to store them. We’re wanting a metal shed to put them all in at night, instead of having to carry them inside.

“We did quite well last year and I was very surprised how well supported we were. I’ve already been lining people up to get collecting this year, so hopefully we’ll do even better this year.”

The club caters for around 70 children aged two to 11 through a variety of pre-school and nursery sessions, breakfast clubs and after-school clubs.

The 150 Examiner Wish Campaign registration places are now open to applications and will close next Wednesday.
