A HUDDERSFIELD Muslim group is holding a seminar to teach people about the role of Islam in modern society.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, based in Lower Fitzwilliam Street, is holding the event on Sunday, November 12, at the Hudawi Cultural Centre on Great Northern Street, Hillhouse.

Members of local organisations and businesses have been invited.

The aim of the seminar is to highlight the true meaning of Islam and the role its followers play in modern Britain.

Association president Mohammed Tahir Vark said: "This will hopefully give an insight into the religion of Islam.

"It will also provide an opportunity to engage in discussions on how we can all contribute to overcoming social tensions."

The seminar starts at 2pm and will last an hour.

It will be followed by a vegetarian Asian meal.
