A COLNE Valley man has launched a language school to help the growing number of Brits wanting to live abroad.

David Robinson, who used to work in insurance and then computers, has started the Colne Valley Language School at his home at Clough Lea, Marsden.

He teaches French and Spanish and is already in demand from people wanting to buy holiday homes, retirement homes or new homes in the sun. Already a number of his students have moved abroad.

Mr Robinson, who graduated from Cambridge University in French and Spanish, is teaching adults.

He said: "I have always had a love of languages, ever since I was a young boy. I studied them at college and university.

"A lot of people now are interested in a move abroad, citing a better quality of life.

"They are better equipped for that new life if they can speak the language, especially when dealing with estate agents or lawyers.

"It also helps them to integrate with the local community and settle in much easier."

Mr Robinson, who has lived in Marsden for 20 years, has turned a room at his home into a classroom for up to six students.

He is also creating a website for the school, having gained the skills at Beaumont Street Studios in Huddersfield.
