AN exciting adventure trail has just opened at a village school.

And it is due to the hard work and efforts of all the pupils and parents at Cumberworth First School.

The £5,000 trail, including ropes and walkways, has been built on land behind the school.

Head teacher Lynne Rutter said it was being used by all the children for lessons and for play.

She added: "We wanted an adventure trail and started fundraising when one of our pupils, Ben Carter, won £1,000 in a competition to design a calendar.

"The Helping Hands parents' group then raised £2,000 with a giant auction and the school council held a fundraising event to raise more money.

"It is great that we have been able to open the trail now."
