At Greenhead College 983 students gained A Level passes in 3 or more subjects, making it the top performing A-Level college in Yorkshire.
Of these students 56 students gained A*/A in 4 or more subjects with 137 students achieving A*/A in 3 subjects. The overall pass rate is 99% with 62% of grades at A*-B. The AS Level pass rate is 92.5% with 49% of grades at A-B.
New Principal Simon Lett said “Congratulations to all of our students, we’re proud of you! You have remained motivated and determined and thoroughly deserve these outstanding results. I would also like to thank our fantastic staff for their unwavering support of our students.
“Some 900 students will be heading off to university and we wish them well.”
The success stories include Nikita Wood, Connor Ward and Callum Gillott.
Nikita is celebrating her A*AA results and on gaining a place at Liverpool University to study Veterinary Science. Nikita, from Moor End Academy, coped admirably (and always with a smile) with her A Level studies, along with two jobs, one milking at a local farm and the other at a local veterinary practice.
Connor said: “Coming to Greenhead College was the best decision that I could ever have made.” His A*A*A*A grades are proof of this and he is now looking forward to studying languages at York University.
Callum is the first in his family to be going to university so gaining his A*A*A*A grades, and securing his place at Cambridge University to study Economics, is extra special.
He said “From day one I got more help and advice from teachers than I could ever have expected, including the advice to surround myself in Economics.”
A spokeswoman from the college said Greenhead's position at the top of the table was due to their results over several years.
She said: "There isn't another college in Yorkshire that has the number of students taking A levels (983) this year gaining 3 A levels and also the number of students with high grades.
"This year we have 56 students who gained A*/A in 4 or more subjects and 137 student who gained A */A in 3 subjects. Most colleges have students on a range of different courses whereas Greenhead specialises in A levels."
