TWO brothers are contesting neighbouring Huddersfield seats in this year’s Kirklees Council election.

Manjit Singh is running for the Lib Dems in Ashbrow with his brother Balvinder Singh-Kang is standing for the party in Greenhead.

Manjit has stood twice before for the council, while Balvinder is making his first attempt to win a place on Kirklees.

He said: “My brother’s strong and long-term commitment to liberal principles has inspired me to stand alongside him and fight the Greenhead ward.”

Both men have lived in Huddersfield for more than 40 years.

Manjit is a former president of Hillhouse Sikh Temple while Balvinder has served on the committee.

Both men live in Birkby.
