Retailer Lidl finally opens its new Holmfirth store on Thursday.

Colne Valley MP Jason McCartney will head a list of VIPs at the official opening of the 1,000sq ft store, which has been built on the Huddersfield Road site formerly occupied by Sicame Electrical Developments.

The development, which has created 25 full and part-time jobs, is part of German-owned Lidl’s plans to expand its 600-strong chain of UK outlets.

Georgina O’Donnell, of Lidl, said: “We’re particularly excited about the new store in Holmfirth and being able to serve the local residents with our fresh, quality produce delivered to stores every day.

“Lidl, would like to take the opportunity to thank residents and locals for their support throughout the planning process and the duration of the build. We look forward to welcoming both new and existing Lidl customers to the store opening on Thursday.”
