Cast your eyes towards Castle Hill tonight and you should spot something very special indeed.

The Huddersfield landmark will be illuminated 5pm-11pm tonight and Tuesday evening as part of James Bawn's latest project.

The lighting designer has previously illuminated Emley Moor Mast to celebrate the Tour de France and provided a stunning light show during last year's Festival of Light.

Now he's turned his eye to the Victoria Tower to mark the start of UNESCO’s International Year of Light and Lighting Technologies.

The Huddersfield event takes place on the same evenings as the international launch in Paris.

Last night James was out on Castle Hill testing his display ahead of tonight's grand debut.

Let There Be Light is a partnership event between Huddersfield-born James, Bolster Moor events company TG Events and Kirklees Council.

James has promised some stunning effects for the two-day project - and has had to alert the Civil Aviation Authority, so they can warn aircraft pilots of the light beams.

It is recommended that the best viewing positions are at a distance from Castle Hill and not near Victoria Tower itself.
