A KIND-HEARTED couple's eye-catching Christmas lights are raising money for two charities.

Bruce and Pauline Pedder's home on Penistone Road at Fenay Bridge is covered in lights which cost £25 a week to power.

People who stop to admire the festive show are urged to give a donation to charity and this year the couple have chosen the NSPCC and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The couple foster children and Pauline said: "Christmas is a time for children which is why we always choose a children's charity."

Last year the couple raised £735 for The Wishes And Dreams Trust which sends terminally-ill children away on dream trips - usually to visit Father Christmas.

Pauline added: "It is a team effort to get the lights up and running."

Their friend, Kirkburton electrician Philip Green, has put a dozen sockets outside their home to power the lights.

"Last year we needed the windows open for all the cables and it was freezing," said Pauline.

Bruce's brother-in-law, Michael Ball, helped to fix the lights to the roof and Fenay Bridge Stores has donated a jar of lollies for the couple give to children who come to admire the lights.
