LIB DEM Councillor Cahal Burke put his best foot forward recently to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Clr Burke, member for Lindley Ward, was one of 9,000 runners taking part in the fifth Jane Tomlinson Run for All 10k in Leeds.

The event was run for the first time in June 2007, three months before Jane died of cancer.

Clr Burke said: “I took part this year for the second time to help raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

“The charity helps local people beat cancer and supports world-class research, diagnosis and treatment in our region.

“They work throughout Yorkshire and they benefit Yorkshire people, as well as sharing their findings to improve the lives of people everywhere.

“It’s a fantastic cause to support and a fantastic event to be involved in.”

The Jane Tomlinson Appeal was set up by the late Jane Tomlinson CBE to raise funds for children’s and cancer charities. To date it has raised more than £2.6 million.
