It's a single guy’s dream.

And Lindley’s Ross Haigh gets to live that dream this Saturday.

He’s on the ITV date show Take Me Out where he’ll strut his stuff in front of 30 single women.

Ross, 23, fancied a little time in the spotlight and signed up to an online service which recruits hopefuls for TV shows.

And in November he was invited to London to audition for the prime time show, which entertains around three million viewers every Saturday evening.

But the audition was more of a general chat.

Ross, an estate agent, said: “They ask you what you like, what type of woman you like and who’ve you been with before.

“It’s pretty relaxed and they were really nice people.”

The aim of each male contestant is to woo one of 30 single women, who stand underneath thirty lights, each with a button in front of them.

A single man tries to persuade the women to agree to a date in a series of rounds, playing a pre-recorded video discussing his background, displaying a skill or playing another video in which the man’s friends or family reveal more about him.

If the woman aren’t impressed they can turn their light off and drop out of the game.

A successful male contestant will take his pick of the remaining women in the game.

When Ross was picked for the show he got to play his favourite sport basketball and shoot hoops with presenter Paddy McGuinness.

Ross said: “It was an amazing experience – the best of my life.

“You’ve got 30 single women in front of you. It’s a bit like a real life Tinder (an online casual dating website).

“I was very happy with the selection of women I got.”

Ross, who likes ‘wacky’ tattooed woman like singer Rita Ora, said: “I was nervous but I got a good reaction.

“I wish I could do it again.”

But did Ross get a date?

To find out you’ll have to watch Take Me Out on Saturday at 8.05pm.
