Meet Noah Ellam - the generous youngster collecting the pounds two by two for a cause close to his heart.

The 11-year-old from Linthwaite braved the shave and said goodbye to his mop on Tuesday, in a gesture to help family friends who run Ruddi’s Retreat.

The charity, run by Ruddi’s mum Ali Jones, helps families with youngsters in remission from cancer to take respite holidays, and is well-known to Noah whose mum Leanne, 34, is a childminder for Ruddi and his sister.

Noah, big brother to Seth, seven, and Ethan, two, was inspired to undertake the headshave after seeing others brave it for Cancer Research.

“He kept nattering us to do it, but really wanted to do it for Ruddi’s Retreat instead”, said dad Jonathan, 43.

“We mentioned it to Ali who thought it was a great idea.”

Noah, who goes to Linthwaite Ardron C of E School, waved goodbye to the tresses he was growing at the Ruddi’s Retreat Vintage Treat Rooms on Manchester Road.

The plucky schoolboy has now raised £750 from donations.

Jonathon, who works for Yorkshire Water, said: “We are very proud of him.

“The money is going to be used to provide equipment and games for the caravans in Filey where families go for respite.

“We can’t imagine what it must be like for families going through cancer, so the fact Noah has given his time is fantastic.”
