Two men have each been jailed for 16 years for shooting a gun at a car full of people, including a child, in Walpole Road, Crosland Moor.

Lionel Patrice and Stephen Harmon were found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life following a trial at Teesside Crown Court.

The court heard the pair shot twice at a car which was being driven along the road and contained three members of the public who had just asked for a lift on 28th July. 2013.

One bullet hit a nearby parked vehicle and experts concluded that the bullet had been discharged from firearm with sufficient velocity to have killed somebody.

After committing the offence, Patrice and Harmon went on the run and were eventually arrested in Blackpool following a joint investigation between West Yorkshire Police and the Lancashire Constabulary.

The two main witnesses were commended by the Judge and awarded £500 pounds each from the public purse.
