Update: Land Rover 'hit parked cars'
The suspected stolen Land Rover collided with parked cars on Huddersfield Road, Holmfirth, according to one witness.
Lucy Ellis, of Bloc Cafe on Huddersfield Road, said: “I saw the Land Rover come down from Greenfield Road straight past our cafe.
“It came flying through stopped traffic on either side followed by a police car, damaging a red car right outside us, and I believe it also damaged a white van parked outside Mezze as the driver was being questioned by police after.”
Update: Land Rover police pursuit
The suspected stolen Land Rover travelled at speed through Holmfirth and took a corner “on two wheels”, witnesses said.
Witnesses said the Land Rover had driven up Huddersfield Road and then turned left onto Victoria Street, where it was travelling at speed.
Catherine Styring, a valuer at William H Brown, was leaving the office when the Land Rover sped past at 4.20pm.
“I heard screeching as it came around the corner from Huddersfield Road. I just could not believe how fast it was going. It must have been 50mph.”
She described seeing the Land Rover “on two wheels” as it took a bend in the town centre.
“The next minute I heard a siren and a police car went past. It was about a minute behind.”
Following the incident, roads in and out of the town became “gridlocked”, she added.

Firework yobs attack firefighters
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has vowed to seek prosecutions for yobs who attack fire crews.
The warning follows attacks on fire crews in Bradford who were tackling rubbish fires in the past three nights.
Youths threw fireworks at crews in Girlington.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer Dave Walton, Director of Service Delivery, said: “Firefighters put their own lives at risk every single day to protect the public. To be attacked by the very people they are there to help is simply incomprehensible.
“Every year we are forced to make the difficult decision whether to bring these despicable attacks to the attention of the public. Of course we hope that by highlighting the problem, communities will pull together and put an end to it, but there is also a risk it will encourage more aggression.”
All West Yorkshire fire engines have cameras installed and crews are trained to ensure the best footage is captured when at incidents to increase the likelihood of culprits being identified.
Mr Walton added: “These attacks are completely unacceptable and we can assure you that we have a zero tolerance policy. We will do everything in our power to make sure that anyone who attacks our firefighters will be caught and prosecuted.”
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police has said: “Attacks on emergency services personnel are taken seriously and West Yorkshire Police will work closely with partners to investigate these incidents and take firm action against those involved.”
Traffic: M62 problems
There have been reports of severe delays and queueing traffic due to earlier broken down vehicle on M62 Eastbound between J24 A629 (Ainley Top) and J25 A644 (Brighouse). All lanes have now been re-opened.

Most adults in Yorkshire and the Humber worry about how their diet will affect their health, but nearly four in five (78 per cent) are still failing to eat the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables every day, a survey by the National Charity Partnership has found.
With rising levels of Type 2 diabetes and heart and circulatory disease – two conditions associated with poor diet – the National Charity Partnership, a collaboration between Diabetes UK, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and Tesco, is urging people to take action now to reduce their risk of developing these conditions in the future.
Babs Evans, Head of Prevention for the National Charity Partnership, said: “Many thousands of people in Yorkshire and the Humber already live with Type 2 diabetes and heart and circulatory disease.
“These conditions are potentially life-threatening, but also largely preventable. A healthy diet is known to help people reduce their risk, but many of us can struggle with this.
“However, if our eating habits don’t change to include more healthy options like fruit and vegetables, the UK as a whole could be heading towards a major health crisis.”
Charity needs your help
Charitable Funds, the in-house charity at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking ideas on how it can make even more of an impact in the future.
The charity is gathering views on its work by holding a number of listening events across the region. There’s one in Huddersfield on 14 November at Folly Hall, 3 – 5pm.
Funding is provided by the charity for activities and resources which wouldn’t normally be paid for by the NHS across Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield.
For example, the charity might fund extras for wards, such as games and activities, equipment for visiting rooms, or resources for sports and creative activities.
Trust Chairman Ian Black said: “Charitable Funds enables the Trust to support many projects big and small. It could be something straight forward such as badminton or art equipment, but they have massive impacts for service users and can have a positive effect on their lives.
“We’re continually working to improve this important work and want to ask our communities for their ideas on how to do this.”

Three men aged 23, 24 and 44 were arrested initially on suspicion of firearms offences and taken into custody. Yesterday (Wed) a further two men aged 26 and 49 were also arrested.
Det Insp Paul Savage of Kirklees CID said: “All five have now been released on bail pending further enquiries and we are not looking to arrest anyone else at the moment. Enquiries are ongoing.”
