Bradford Road has re-opened in both directions and traffic has returned to normal following the earlier accident.

Two children have been hurt in separate road traffic incidents on Bradford Road this afternoon.

Child, four, taken to hospital
A four-year-old has been taken to hospital after reportedly being hit by two cars on Bradford Road.
The child, believed to be a girl, has been taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
The extent of her injuries is not known at the moment.
A section of the road near to Eleanor Street has been closed by police. There is traffic congestion in the area.
The accident happened outside Launderama.
A woman at the scene said two vehicles were involved.
Second incident in Bradford Road, Fartown
There has been a second road incident.

Slow traffic and road closed due to accident on A641 Bradford Road in both directions between Netheroyd Hill Road and Long Hill Road.
Boy hit by vehicle, Bradford Road
A 12-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle outside the Asda supermarket on Bradford Road at 3.30pm today.
Police and ambulance attended. The road was closed for around 30 minutes.
These are the only details we have at present.
Police warn over spoof 999 Facebook post
West Yorkshire Police have warned over a spoof Facebook post that claims your phone will play the Happy Brithday song if you ring a certain number.
The number in fact connects you to 999, meaning someone who needs emergency services may not be able to get through in a genuinely life-threatening or urgent situation.
The spoof has been reported in Humberside, and our local Force have also warned social media users of the prank.

Huddersfield pair deny moors murder
A man and woman from Huddersfield have denied murdering a man whose body was found on the moors near Woodhead Pass.
Craig Nelson (also known as Craig Preston) was found dead at Woodhead Tunnels in August. Mohammed Shiraz Bashir, 41, and Leonie Mason, 23, of Berry Brow, have appeared at Sheffield Crown Court today denying murder.
Three 15-year-old boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also denied murder.
All five face trial on February 27.
Woman wanted in connection with assault
Recognise this woman? Police have released her image saying she is wanted in connection with an assault in Kirklees.
The assault is alleged to have happened on Christmas Eve.
Square Chapel to be redeveloped
The Square Chapel Centre for the Arts building in Halifax is to be redeveloped following funding from a host of benefactors.
The Centre will take possession of its new £6.6m building this Spring, it has been revealed today, following input from Arts Council England and Calderdale Council among several others funding the project.
A new extension will have improved facilities, as well as a café bar, new dressing rooms and a new sound system.

Carers suffering increasingly lower quality of life
Huddersfield carers are suffering from an increasingly lower quality of life, a report has found.
The local CCG has given carers the lowest rating for quality oflife since 2012.

Vacancy for a new local bobby

A vacancy for an officer in the Kirklees Rural neighbourhood team has opened. West Yorkshire Police announced recently they are looking to recruit 300 more staff.

New Street Post Office in danger of closure
Huddersfield’s New Street Post Office branch is to be franchised meaning it will close unless someone takes it on, it’s been announced.
It’s part of a wider move by the Post Office to close and franchise branches and cut 300 jobs.
Dave Ward, General Secretary of the Communication Workers’ Union, said: “The latest round of closures is further evidence that the Post Office is in crisis and that the board of the company, backed by the government, is simply pursuing a strategy of slash and burn.
It’s understood the Northumberland Street branch will stay the same.
Brighouse High "taking classes of nearly 50 pupils"
Teachers at Brighouse High Academy have had to teach classes of nearly 50 children due to cutbacks, a BBC report claims.
The report says there is evidence children at the school have had to be taught in a maths class of 46, with one of the pupils saying the size of the class meant it was more difficult to focus.
The school said the class size was a result of cutbacks and a lack of specialist maths teachers, and that pupils were taught in one large class as an experiment putting less able students with those more able.
West Yorkshire Police - caught on camera
Police have issued CCTV images of these two people, who are suspected in separate incidents of thefts from shops, both in Calderdale.
Do you recognise either of them? Both offences were committed on December 13.
Local criminologist interprets anti-social behaviour in young offenders
A Huddersfield criminologist interested in how police tackle anti-social behaviour has been spenidn time on patrol with officers here and in her native Poland to examine the different approaches.
Monika Baylis previously worked as an interpreter which gave her insight in the criminal and justice system. She claims forces are different in Poland due to its still fairly recent Communist history, meaning citizens are more compliant with authority.
Monika has been quizzing police here and in Poland for her research for her thesis, and hopes her findings will be able to assist police both ehre and abroad in their dealing with young, anti-social offenders.

Traffic eases heading towards Leeds
Traffic has returned to normal on Dewsbury Road heading into Leeds following an accident near the White Rose Centre earlier.
Man viciously assaulted outside Batley restaurant
Police in Batley are appealing today after a man was viciously assaulted and left with facial injuries.
The man was attacked near LaLa’s restaurant on Bradford Road two days after Christmas. The 21-year-old male victim was punched in the face and fell to the floor. He was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Anyone who either witnessed this incident or has any information is asked to contact Kirklees District Police, via 101 quoting reference 13160754377.
Road blocked heading towards Leeds
Just an update on that incident near the White Rose Shopping Centre heading into Leeds - the road has now been blocked and there are tailbacks due to an earlier multi-vehicle accident. We’ll update you on this when things look to be improving.
Are you the owner of recovered stolen jewellery
Calderdale detectives are appealing to anyone who may have had jewellery stolen after it was recovered from a local pawn brokers.
The hat pin, pendant and gold chain necklace are believed to have been stolen in a burglary. They were recovered back in September and now police have issued images of the jewellery in the hope someone will reclaim it.
Det Con Craig Aubrey, of Halifax CID, said: “They may have great sentimental value to the owners, and I would appeal to anyone who recognises this jewellery or who may have any information about who owns the jewellery to get in touch.” Anyone who has any information should contact Det Con Aubrey via 101.
Slow traffic heading out of Flockton
Things look slow moving in Flockton this morning. And we’re not talking about the tractors and herds of sheep.
Two people taken to hospital in Birstall house fire
Fire services are attending a house fire in Birstall this morning. It is understood the residents have managed to get out of the Carr Street property.
The call was made just before 7am and crews from Dewsbury and Cleckheaton are currently in attendance. The fire is reportedly a bedroom fire which was 100% involved in flames.
Two people have been taken to hospital for a check up having suffered smoke inhalation.
Fire services say a smoke detector is fitted but wasn’t working properly. A fire investigator is also at the scene.
