Kirkgate attack leaves man badly hurt
There has been a nasty attack in Kirkgate which resulted in a man suffering fractures to his face.
It is believed the victim had been involved in an altercation at around 2.45am on February 3.
During the assault the injured man was kicked when on the ground.
Traffic: Congestion on M62 in both directions
There is very slow traffic and traffic heavier than normal on the M62 in both directions between Chain Bar and junction junction 28, Tingley.
The hard shoulder, which normally runs as a live lane, is not open for traffic.

Police are issuing a fresh appeal for information after a 54-year-old woman was killed in a collision in Dewsbury.
The Major Collision and Enquiry Team would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision on Bradford Road, Dewsbury at about 10.10am on Saturday February 4.
It occurred under the railway bridge near the Lidl supermarket after a white BMW 420 coupe collided with street furniture, a parked van and a 54-year-old local woman who was a pedestrian.
Despite medical attention the lady died at the scene from her injuries.
Bradford Road was closed for investigation work and re-opened during Saturday afternoon.
Sergeant Carl Quinn of the Major Collision and Enquiry Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate this fatal collision and are very much continuing to appeal for witnesses.
“I would like to speak with anyone who saw the collision or the manner in which the BMW was being driven in the moments leading up to it.
“Anyone who has information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact the Major Collision and Enquiry Team on 101.
Two 21 year old men and a 20-year-old man were arrested on Saturday in connection with the investigation on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and have now been bailed pending continuing enquiries.
Congestion at Chapel Hill
There are reports of very slow traffic on the A616 at Chapel Hill and around A62 Manchester Road. There are roadworks in that area.
It was very congested in Lockwood this morning due to the roadworks - a spot to avoid if you can, morning and night.
Busy heading off ring road onto New North Road
Traffic is heavy on New North Road at the moment as you near the ring road.
Juan Jasso: "More people should stand up to racism"
Juan Jasso has spoken out following the guilty plea from three youths in court this morning.
He said he has received thousands of messages online from others pledging their support after he confronted the three, and that others should confront racism and bad behaviour where possible.
He said: “I will always stand up for what I believe is right. For me to be on the receiving end of that was a bit of a shock. I don’t see them as very good members of society. This place is still home, it always will be, it hasn’t changed my view on anything about this place, I love England, love living here, love the area.”
Man reported to police after Turkish flag flown at yesterday's match
Police have confirmed that a man was ejected from John Smith’s Stadium yesterday after a Turkish flag was unveiled to reportedly taunt Leeds away fans.
The flag was in reference to two Leeds fans, Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight, who were stabbed to death outside a match in Istanbul in 2000.
A police spokeswoman said earlier: “A 59-year-old man has been reported for summons. The flag was seized and he was ejected from the grounds by the club.”

Three youths admit racially abusing man on tram
A Todmorden man was spat at and racially abused on a packed city centre tram, a court has been hearing today.
Juan Jasso, a former US Army veteran and University of Huddersfield student, was abused in front of dozens of disgusted passengers in Manchester city centre five days after the EU referendum.
Aaron Cauchi, 19, Robert Mollo, 20, and a 16-year-old man have today admitted going on a “rampage” when they abused Mr Jasso.
Manchester Magistrates heard this morning how Molly, the instigator, told Jasso: “Don’t chat s*** when you’re not even from England, you little f****** immigrant. Get off the f****** tram now. Get back to Africa.”
Video footage of the attack went viral. The three will be sentenced this afternoon.
Calderdale man has been missing for more than two weeks
Have you seen this man? Police this morning say he is STILL missing after disappearing more than two weeks ago.
Craig Alderson, 44, is from Halifax and was last seen in Queensbury on Friday, January 20.
Detective Inspector Allan Raw of Calderdale Police said; “Craig has now been missing for over two weeks and we are still very concerned for his welfare. It is very much out of character for Craig to be missing and we want to make sure he is OK. We know that he has links in Queensbury and across Bradford and would appeal to anyone who has seen or heard from him, or who knows where he is now to contact the police. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Police reveal three men arrested in connection with Dewsbury collision
More information has emerged on the collision in Dewsbury on Saturday, as police issue a new appeal this morning.
Police arrested two other men, alongside the 21-year-old, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Another 21-year-old and a 20-year-old man were also arrested, All three have now been bailed.
Pedestrian Mrs Dana, who was 54, was given medical assistance but died of her injuries at the scene.
She was hit after a collision between a van, street furniture and a white BMW near Lidl.

Man bailed following fatal Dewsbury collision
A man has been bailed following a fatal collision in Dewsbury on Saturday.
The 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has now been bailed pending further enquiries.
Hamida Bai Dana, from Batley, was killed after being hit by a white BMW 420 coupe on Bradford Road on Saturday morning.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has further information is urged to call police via 101.
Robbery at Netherton newsagents: "No-one injured"
An update into the incident at Netherton newsagents this morning - police were called after a robbery earlier this morning.
It happened at the newsagents next to the Post Office on Meltham Road.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to a newsagents on Meltham Road in Netherton around 6.06am on Monday following reports of a robbery, where two suspects made demands for cash and cigarettes.
“No one was injured and officers are continuing their early stage enquiries.
“Anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and may have seen anything suspicious is asked to contact police via 101 quoting 0169 of February 6.”
The shop is now open again, we’ve been told.
Gridlock heading into town in Lockwood
Chapel Hill and Lockwood is currently totally gridlocked.
It took one Examiner colleague 1hr 20mins to get into work from Meltham! Traffic is backing all the way down Chapel Hill, down Lockwood Road and back past Lockwood Bar so is affecting people travelling in from Holme Valley and Beaumont Park areas.
The road has been shut down to one lane due to ongoing gas works. Please allow extra time for your journey and take another route if possible.

M62: Live lane re-opens after fog lifts
Good news for M62 travellers - the fog has now lifted and the live lane between junction 26 and 27 eastbound has re-opened.
This should ease the pressure on traffic and reduce congestion.
Police cordon off Netherton newsagents
We’re hearing reports of a police incident at the newsagents next to the Post Office in Netherton this morning.
Police are at the scene on Meltham Road and have cordoned the premises off. An incident was reported to police at around 6am this morning and they are currently conducting enquiries. We will give you further updates when we know more.
Teenage girl in hospital after Meltham collision
A 14-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Meltham last night.
The teenager was knocked down while at the junction with Red Lane at 15.47pm. She was hit by a black Renault heading in the Slaithwaite direction and police this morning are appealing to anyone who may have seen the collision.
The girl was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to contact Pc Sandford via 101 quoting log number 1045 of 5/2.

Machete seized from "young lad" in Huddersfield town centre
Police seized a stash of cannabis and this terrifying looking weapon off a young man in Huddersfield over the weekend.
The machete and drugs were confiscated in the town centre on Saturday night and a man was arrested and questioned yesterday.
An officer for the Kirklees Rural team said: “Thanks to CCTV and a member of the public, an arrest was made and these items are now off the streets.”

Live lane closed on the M62 due to fog
Just to let you know the live lane (hard shoulder) on the M62 eastbound between junctions 26 and 27 is actually open again - this has been closed for the past few weeks but Highways England have told us it re-opened last week.
It’s been temporarily closed this morning for safety reasons due to the fog, but we’ve been reassured it will re-open as soon as the fog has lifted.
Traffic is currently very heavy in this area due to the live lane being closed but should return to normal soon. Traffic is also heavy on surrounding local roads, including Lindley Moor Road, Bradley Road and New Hey Road.
Batley school evacuated due to "gas leak"
Apparently Mill Lane School in Batley has been evacuated this morning following a suspected gas leak. The school will be closed all day and parents will be notified by text if it chooses to closes tomorrow. More on this when we have it.

Heavy traffic on Trinity Street at the Gledholt Roundabout at the moment, while Cooper Bridge is mayhem coming from all sides.
Disruption expected on roads after car hits telegraph pole
Police attended a collision just outside New Mill in the small hours this morning after a car smashed head on into a telegraph pole.
It happened on New Mill Lane near the junction with Luke Lane, and it looks like the pole may have won this one. An electrics team were called out to make the area safe.
Officers at Kirklees Rural police have warned there may be some traffic disruption on the road this morning as repairs are underway.
Slaithwaite Road re-opened following collision
Slaithwaite Road in Meltham was re-opened last night following a collision.
It is thought there was a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian. The road was closed at 4pm and re-opened later in the evening at the junction for Red Lane.
We have spoken to police and are expecting an update on the collision later this morning.
