I think I’ve just gone off my lunch...Shops have been pulling thousands of sandwiches from the shelves after it was found they could contain blue meat.

Customers are being urged not to eat specific sandwiches from shops including Spar, Honest Crust and Great Northern Sandwich Company, with some sarnies found to contain discoloured chicken.

The Food Standards Agency has put out an urgent recall on the products. So if you’re about to pop out on your lunch break, maybe stick to a BLT or a veggie option.

McCann parents slam Maddie reference in The Moorside

The parents of Madeleine McCann have joined hoards of people criticising BBC’s The Moorside on Karen Matthews.

Kate and Gerry McCann, whose daughter disappeared on holiday in Portugal in 2007, called the decision to air the two-part drama “appalling” and “insensitive”.

The case of Maddie McCann was alluded to in last night’s episode, which the parents said was “in bad taste” and “poor timing” with the ten-year anniversary of her disappearance approaching.

Regional: Firearms arrest after Leeds city centre cordoned off

If you’re popping into Leeds this morning, you may see a lot of police about. The city centre was on lockdown earlier this morning after reports of a person with a firearm.

Officers shut off the Headrow and subsequently arrested a man on suspicion of firearms charges.

Police have also been making a search of the Sainsbury’s store on the Headrow, and have just informed us that the search has not found any weapons and the store and scene have now been re-opened.

Detective Inspector Dave McDougal, of Leeds District CID, said: “We will always treat any report of a person thought to be in possession of a firearm very seriously. Officers responded quickly to these reports and detained the suspect without incident.

“While no firearm was recovered from the arrested man or in initial searches of the area we need to be certain and are conducting further searches today, particularly in the Sainsbury’s store.”
