'Erratic' driver collides on M62
Police were called at around 3.10pm today to reports of a Dacia Sandero being driven erratically on the M62 westbound.
The car collided with a boundary and came to a stop on the hard shoulder near to Hartshead services.
Both police and the ambulance service attended the collision.
It is believed the male driver suffered a medical episode at the wheel but was not seriously injured. The vehicle was recovered to the services.
The driver was initially spotted driving erratically near junction 27, Gildersome.
Police said the incident had not involved a police pursuit and it was a Dacia involved and not a BMW, as reported earlier.
Photos released after clubber attacked
A clubber was knocked unconscious by a group of men who assaulted him a second time while he was laid on the floor.
The 21-year-old man was followed from the TBC nightclub in Batley to a cashpoint where he was attacked from behind and robbed of his wallet.
Police issued images of men they want to speak with about the attack at around 3.35am on Saturday January 28.
Door staff came to assist the victim who received injuries to his head, nose and mouth.
Detective Constable Chris Eglen said: “I am hoping to speak to anyone who has any information about this incident or can help identify the men in the pictures who we wish to speak with in connection with this assault.
“This was an unprovoked attack, which left the victim requiring hospital treatment.”

Reports of 'police pursuit' on M62
We are getting reports of an incident on the M62 near to junction 27, Gildersome.
West Yorkshire Police have yet to comment but a witness has reported seeing about six police cars pursuing a BMW.
The witness has suggested that the BMW driver was chased up an embankment.
Highways England are reporting a “police incident” between junctions 27 and 28 westbound.
Traffic: M62 very slow in both directions
Traffic is very slow and heavier than normal on the M62 in BOTH directions between junction 26 Chain Bar and junction 28 Tingley.
Woman named in fatal road crash
Police have named a woman killed in a collision in Dewsbury as Hamida Sidat.
Ms Sidat, 54, from Batley, died at the scene of the crash, on Bradford Road, by the Lidl store.
She was hit by a white BMW 420 coupe.
Three men who were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving were later bailed.
Police are seeking witnesses to contact the Major Collision and Enquiry Team via 101.
Accident on the M62
Accident and congestion on the M62 westbound.
The lane is blocked on the road leading from the Hartshead Moor Services onto the M62 at junction 25 westbound.

One lane has been closed on the M62 westbound due to a broken down vehicle between Brighouse) and Ainley Top. Traffic is reportedly coping well but one to watch out for if you’re heading that way.
Man hit with hammer in robbery at Rawthorpe takeaway
Detectives are appealing to the public after a robbery at a takeaway in Rawthorpe.
Three men robbed the eaterie on Bradley Mills Road after entering it on Monday night with their faces covered. One was carrying a hammer and broke into a glass cabinet, while one stood by the door and another reached over the counter and took the cash register.
A male staff member tried to intervene and stop the till being taken, and was hit on the hand with the hammer as a result.
The three men then feld the scene. They have been described as aged 16 to 24 and of slim build.
Det Chris Eglen, of Huddersfield CID, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the staff at the takeaway and we are working to capture the perpetrators involved.” Anyone with information should call CID via 101.
Police arrest four men following shooting in Dewsbury
Police have arrested four men following a shooting in Dewsbury last week.
A 24-year-old man was shot on Cemetery Road, Westtown, on Wednesday evening last week. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in hospital at this time, although his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A 31-year-old man, a 30-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 18-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, robbery, attempted robbery and threats to damage. They remain in police custody at this time.
Police are continuing to appeal for information from the local community about the circumstances of the incident.

Dunelm store hit by slump in pound
Home furniture store Dunelm Mill have warned that the slump in the pound since Brexit may result in a price hike on thousands of their stock.
Dunelm, who have a branch on Huddersfield Retail Park on the ring road, say the fall has left profit margins squeezed, while shares in the company have fallen by 9%.
Regional: Double-murderer who fled justice is given life sentence
A who fled West Yorkshire after murdering two men has today been given a life sentence behind bars.
Mohammed Zubair, who escaped justice by fleeing to Pakistan after murdering Shahbzada Muhammed Imran and Ahmedin Sayed Khyel in 2011, was today given a minimum term of 32 years.
Zubair, 36, of Bradford, was extradited from Pakistan in May last year and was found guilty of the murders by a jury at Bradford Crown Court earlier this week.
Senior Investigating Officer Det Supt Simon Atkinson, who worked on the case, said: “I hope this case sends out a message that West Yorkshire Police will use all available methods to bring dangerous men like Zubair to justice, wherever in the world they might be.”
Urgent recall on Spar chicken sandwiches
I think I’ve just gone off my lunch...Shops have been pulling thousands of sandwiches from the shelves after it was found they could contain blue meat.
Customers are being urged not to eat specific sandwiches from shops including Spar, Honest Crust and Great Northern Sandwich Company, with some sarnies found to contain discoloured chicken.
The Food Standards Agency has put out an urgent recall on the products. So if you’re about to pop out on your lunch break, maybe stick to a BLT or a veggie option.
Screening of Suffragette to mark International Women's Day
Halifax’s Square Chapel will be celebrating International Women’s Day with a free screening of the film Suffragette, it’s been announced.
The 2015 film is about, unsurprisingly, the suffragette movement and details the story of one working class woman in Victorian London and the sacrifices she and her friends made to gain the right to vote. MP Holly Lynch will be there at the screening on Saturday, March 4.

Motorists can drive over the bridge for the first time in 13 months. The ribbon was cut by Calderdale Council leader Clr Tim Swift. The Council have posted this picture of the first cars to drive across. More pictures and video to come.

McCann parents slam Maddie reference in The Moorside
The parents of Madeleine McCann have joined hoards of people criticising BBC’s The Moorside on Karen Matthews.
Kate and Gerry McCann, whose daughter disappeared on holiday in Portugal in 2007, called the decision to air the two-part drama “appalling” and “insensitive”.
The case of Maddie McCann was alluded to in last night’s episode, which the parents said was “in bad taste” and “poor timing” with the ten-year anniversary of her disappearance approaching.

Regional: Firearms arrest after Leeds city centre cordoned off
If you’re popping into Leeds this morning, you may see a lot of police about. The city centre was on lockdown earlier this morning after reports of a person with a firearm.
Officers shut off the Headrow and subsequently arrested a man on suspicion of firearms charges.
Police have also been making a search of the Sainsbury’s store on the Headrow, and have just informed us that the search has not found any weapons and the store and scene have now been re-opened.
Detective Inspector Dave McDougal, of Leeds District CID, said: “We will always treat any report of a person thought to be in possession of a firearm very seriously. Officers responded quickly to these reports and detained the suspect without incident.
“While no firearm was recovered from the arrested man or in initial searches of the area we need to be certain and are conducting further searches today, particularly in the Sainsbury’s store.”
Yellow warning for snow in Yorkshire
Yellow warnings for snow and ice have been issued for Yorkshire.
The Met Office say “there is a chance of locally difficult driving conditions on untreated roads and slippery conditions on pavements and cycle paths are also possible”.

Traffic at the St Thomas’ Road junction at Folly Hall is beginning to clear, our traffic partners Inrix are saying.

Traffic is currently heavy on Wakefield Road in Mirfield, Huddersfield Road at Salterhebble, Halifax, Halifax Road in Hipperholme and at Manchester Road at Longroyd Bridge heading in to town.
Elland Bridge re-opens today
Elland Bridge is due to re-open to motorists today.
The bridge has been closed for more than a year after it was damaged by floods in December 2015. The footway was reopened to pedestrians and cyclists last month.
Reporter Louise Cooper will be there today to watch as the cordon is lifted and the bridge is brought back to life.
