Last night police received reports of nuisance vehicles at the car parks off Junction 27, Birstall.

Reports mentioned a large number of vehicles driving dangerously, doing handbrake turns and donuts (wheel spinning a car in a circle).

A police spokesman said: “Officers from Spen & Batley NPT attended the area and sighted numerous vehicles acting in an anti-social manor.

“Over the next few days officers will be issuing 21 Section 59 warnings for using a vehicle in an anti-social manor.

“The warning, which stays on file for 12 months, enables officers to seize the vehicle if it is sighted acting in a similar manner again.”

Anti-Trump protest fails to gather momentum

An anti-Trump demonstration has failed to shake the earth in the centre of town this lunchtime.

Only a handful turned out, although what they lacked in numbers they made up for in spirit.

The protest was organised by the Kirklees branch of Stand Up To Racism, with demonstrations being held across the country today as Parliament hold discussions about the President’s proposed State visit to the UK.

If you go down to the woods today...

I feel like all this photo is missing is a mini fridge and a few cans propped next to a tree.

Tom Taylor shared this picture of a sofa dumped in woodlands near Golcar.

He wrote: “I’m sure it would have been easier to get this to the tip than all the way into Heath House woods...” Does anyone else see a subtle irony in a sofa being abandoned by probably one of Huddersfield’s laziest residents?

Either these sheep have a death wish, or shear determination to cross the road quickly.

Pip Males captured this dashcam footage of the small flock running in front of the car in Marsden. If that’s not shocking enough, all three of them miraculously got up and trotted off apparently unscathed.

Pip said he got out of the car after to check and watched in amazement as one wriggled its way back onto its feet as it lay on its back after being hit.

Traffic on the M62

Morning, all. We’ve got heavy traffic on the M62 westbound just as you approach Hartshead Services between Chain Bar and Brighouse.. This is due to debris in the road caused by an earlier accident - although the traffic should be clearing now.

There’s also heavy traffic going eastbound around Chain Bar - just the usual Moonday morning mayhem so nothing too much to worry about.

Manchester Road in Cowlersley is now back open following a collision last night. More on that in a bit.
