Dad takes carers to court in bid to get them to trim his son's pubic and underarm hair
A West Yorkshire dad who wanted his seriously disabled adult son to observe an Islamic custom in the care home where he lives has lost his court fight.
The father, who cannot be named, was adamant that his son’s pubic and underarm hair be trimmed, in line with Islamic recommendation.
However, experts said it would put the 39-year-old at risk of injury and was pointless, as he is unable to understand his religion.

Foal dies after mum dies giving birth at Cannon Hall Farm
Some very sad news today. Cannon Hall Farm have informed us that following a horse dying while giving birth last week, her foal has now also died.
Chester the foal contracted septicaemia and failed to respond to antibiotics.
Staff at Cannon Hall have thanked the public for their support and assured the public both horses received the best veterinary care available.
Travel update
A couple of traffic incidents to let you know about:
- One lane closed on the M62 eastbound due to a broken down car between junctions 19 and 20
- Congestion (slow but moving) on New Bank/Godley Lane in Halifax heading out of town. Travel time is seven minutes
- Busy but moving on Halifax Road through Edgerton/Birchencliffe. Travel time is seven minutes
WATCH: Officers seize £40,000 worth of cannabis
Police have published this video which documents a raid on a huge cannabis farm.
Officers in Saddleworth raided the cannabis farm last night and seized £40,000 worth of the plants at a factory in Diggle. It took police five hours to dismantle the farm.
A spokesperson for GMP said: “We are determined as a team to tackle drug cultivation, drug use and the anti-social behaviour that follows in line with our Zero Zone initiative.”
Identity learned of skeleton found by M1
Police have said they know the identity of a human skeleton found near to the M1 earlier this year.
The near-complete skeleton was discovered near to junction 45 at Temple Newsam near Leeds in April. West yorkshire Police have now said that the bones are thought to belong to a man from eastern Europe.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.

They say the development is so close to the road that the bin lorry can’t get past and a tree has had to be cut down.
Fifth of children think fish fingers are made of chicken, study finds
A poll has found that one in five children in the UK think fish fingers are made from CHICKEN.
The study led by the British Nutrition Foundation found shocking lack of knowledge among children over where food comes from. Results showed some also thought that cheese came from plants, tomatoes grow underground and that chips were made from animals. Meanwhile, some 11% of both 11-14-year-olds and 14-16-year-olds thought that fruit pastilles counted towards their five-a-day.
Roy Ballam, BNF managing director and head of education said: “Schools and families can and should successfully work together to, in turn, educate children and then motivate them in their endeavours to make healthier choices.”

Kirklees Council have given their thanks to anyone who helped during Thursday’s election.
Jacqui Gedman, from the council, said that 600 people were invovled in the counting of votes overnight on Thursday, with results announced within minutes of one another at about 4am on Friday.
Police forced to padlock their MILK after tea thief strikes
Police at Halifax Police Station have been forced to PADLOCK their milk due to a dair-ying thief on the loose.
Officers are used to dealing with thieves on a daily basis - but not among their own! This picture was tweeted by visiting Huddersfield Pc Ryan Sharp.

Burglars take jewellery stash and Mini in house raid
Police are appealing for information on a burglary in Mirfield, where a resident’s blue Mini and a stash of jewellery were stolen.
It happened at a home on Hopton Lane, Lower Hopton, last week while the owner was away, although police have just released details.
The thieves broke into the house through a window and searched it before making off. The Mini had a black roof with two stripes down the front and a personalised number plate starting with ‘H’. A pink Mulberry bag a gold ring in the shape of a flower, a half eternity ring with emeralds and diamonds, a ring with a light pink stone and a half eternity ring with dark rubies were also taken. The burglary is happened between June 3 and 9 and officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area.
Countdown legend walking to Huddersfield for charity today
Former Countdown presenter Jeff Stelling will walking to Huddersfield later today as part of his charity walking challenge.
Mr Stelling, a host at Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, is walking 15 marathons in as many days from Exeter City FC to Newcastle United’s grounds at St James’ to raise £500k for Prostate Cancer UK. Today will see him walk from Burnley to Huddersfield.
Jeff is expected in town later this evening at around 6pm when he will finish at John Smith’s Stadium.

The Mirfield acting legend was the talk of Twitter last night - after he drank champagne from a shoe.
Sir Patrick was interviewing Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo, who came third in the Canadian Grand Prix, when he took a swig on the podium.
Armed police swoop in Moldgreen
Police swooped on a car in Moldgreen last night, as eyewitnesses reported seeing men arrested.
It happened on Wakefield Road just outside the Aden Court Care Home at around 10pm last night. The car was then seized by officers. We are currently waiting to hear an update from police, so we’ll let you know when there’s more information.

Fourth person charged in connection with Sinead Wooding murder
A woman is due in court today charged in connection with the murder of a West Yorkshire woman.
Sinead Wooding, 26, was found dead in the Alwoodley area of Leeds last month. Two people have been charged with her murder and another with assisting an offender.
Yesterday police charged a fourth person, Vicky Briggs, 25, of Reginald Mount, with assisting an offender. She is due to appear before Leeds Magistrates today.
