Do you know this man?

Detectives have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an assault in Halifax.

The incident occurred around 11pm on Saturday July 8 outside the Yates bar on Silver Street in the town centre.

The victim was assaulted by an unknown man. The victim fell to the floor and was treated in hospital for serious injuries.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 30s. He was of stocky build and wearing blue jeans and a cream coloured top.

Officers are appealing for anyone who can identify the man, or who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Enquiries are continuing.

Information can be passed to police by calling Calderdale CID via 101 quoting 13170312488.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Jodie returns to our screens tonight

Huddersfield’s Jodie Whittaker will star in a gripping new BBC drama tonight.

Jodie will be playing a very different type of doctor in Trust Me - a drama about a woman masquerading as a doctor. Character Cath is a recently separated nurse who moves to Edinburgh and steals a doctor’s identity. But what will she do when she has to treat a patient and doesn’t have a clue what to do? You can watch Trust Me at 9pm on BBC One tonight.

Appeal for suspects who tried to steal cash machine

Do you recognise any of these men wanted after an attempt to steal a cash machine?

The three were captured on CCTV after an ATM was targeted at a Tesco Express store in Bradford on Friday, June 30. The culprits were unsuccessful and fled the scene on foot. It’s believed this is related to other incidents in the London and Hertfordshire areas, where thousands of pounds have been taken in similar attacks.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bradford CID via 101.

Woman speaks out after being rescued from ravine plunge

A woman who was caught in a terrifying car collision on Sunday has spoken out to thank the volunteers who helped to save her.

Rochelle Garner fell 50ft down a ravine after her car left the road on Rishworth Moor. Incredibly, Rochelle was unhurt apart from a few cuts and bruises and a swollen head.

Rochelle, from Ripponden, had been following her partner in separate cars when the accident happened and she managed to free herself from the vehicle. She has thanked volunteers who came to help, particularly Stephan Gray and Jonathan Stigwood who were first on the scene, describing them as “amazing people”.

Woman trekking across the country to help NSPCC

A Huddersfield woman is walking from one end of the country to another in a bid to raise money for charity.

Sarah Othman is seven days in to her mammoth trek from Brighton to Glasgow. It’s part of a challenge she’s set for herself running throughout August to walk 500 miles in 30 days (cue the Proclaimers puns...)

She hopes to raise £5,000 for the NSPCC. You can read more about her challenge here, or watch her vlog below.

Search for owner of puss who's been helping station staff

Can you help identify this moustached moggy who’s made himself a home at a nearby train station?

The unknown feline has been giving our Felix a run for her money by regularly helping keep platforms pest-free at Sowerby Bridge Station,a nd now staff want to know who his or her owner is. Despite having a collar, the puss has no tag or identification and staff wonder if it is a stray.

The 35-year-old has played 109 games for Town.

Problems on the M62

Slow traffic on the M62 eastbound this afternoon due to an earlier accident.

One car was involved on at junction 26, with congestion back to 25 for Brighouse. All lanes have been re-opened.

Woman appears in court on attempted murder charge

Shaunna Littlewood appeared at Leeds Crown Court this morning charged with the attempted murder of her friend Sarah Holden.

Littlewood, 25, was remanded back into custody ahead of her next court appearance for which a date is to be confirmed.

Jodie arrives in style at ITV studios

Skelmanthorpe actress and new Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker has been pictured arriving at the ITV studios this morning.

Jodie, who will play the 13th Doctor, has described in an interview how becoming the first woman to play the Time Lord as “incredible and really emotional”.

Jail for officer who filmed people having sex from police helicopter

Former police officer Adrian Pogmore has been jailed for a year at Sheffield Crown Court for using the South Yorkshire Police helicopter to film people having sex and sunbathing naked.

Pogmore, 50, from the National Police Air Service, admitted four charges of misconduct in public office.

Woman due in court over friend's attempted murder

A woman is due in court today charged with the attempted murder of her friend.

Shaunna Littlewood, 25, is accused of stabbing Sarah Holden 17 times at a flat on Gladstone Court, Dewsbury, last month. Miss Holden was critically injured but is no longer in hospital.

Littlewood, of Gladstone Court, is due before Leeds Crown Court today for a preliminary hearing.

Road to remain closed for several weeks following burst mains

An update on the road closure at Bradford Road in Cleckheaton - Yorkshire Water say it is likely to remain closed until the end of the month.

The firm are dealing with a burst caused to a 15 metre stretch of sewer.

A spokesperson said: “We anticipate that the road will remain closed until Monday 28th August, but we will do our best to re-open it before then. This gives us time to carry out an extensive four metre deep excavation, sewer repair and road re-surface, led by our specialist civil engineering partners.

“The diversion route we have agreed with Highways will remain in place throughout this time period to safely manage traffic flow.”

Do you recognise this hatted bus passenger? Kirklees police want to speak to him following an incident of public disorder on a bus.

Missing man David Lister has now been found safe and well, police have confirmed.

Stab victim still in hospital

A 20-year-old man is still in hospital this morning after being stabbed in Crosland Moor.

Police say they have not yet made any arrests after the man suffered two stab wounds on Cromarty Drive at around 7pm. The victim was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains with serious injuries.

Delays on the M62 due to earlier break down

Very slow on the M62 eastbound this morning due to a broken down vehicle between Brighouse and Chain Bar which was blocking one lane, although this has since been re-opened.

Fears for Holmfirth man seen leaving HRI overnight

Have you seen missing David Lister? The Holmfirth man has not been seen since leaving Huddersfield Royal Infirmary just after midnight this morning.

Mr Lister, 75, was wearing a blue and white horizontal striped shirt, blue jeans, blue boat coat and carrying a green bag.

Police are concerned for his welfare and if anyone has any information about his whereabouts they are asked to contact the police via 101 quoting log number 102 of 8 August.
