Teenager charged with manslaughter following attack outside McDonald's

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter following an attack outside McDonald’s.

Graham Bell, 37, suffered serious head injuries following an attack outside the Kirkgate restaurant on October 1. He died in hospital a few days later.

The Huddersfield teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear before Leeds Youth Court, on November 28.

Police are also continuing their appeal for witnesses and are urging anyone in the area at the time to speak to the police via 101 quoting crime reference 13170453616.

M62 crash and broken down vehicle

There’s been a three-vehicle crash on the M62 eastbound.

There’s queueing traffic and three lanes closed due to the accident, which happened between junctions 28 and 29.

The carriageway was fully blocked to aid emergency services and the congestion is back to junction 27 for Gildersome.

And there’s a broken down vehicle between junction 27 and 26 on the M62 westbound. One lane is closed and there’s slow traffic.

Driver jailed after police chase in Halifax

A male driver has been jailed after a number of driving offences in Calderdale.

A Volkswagen Golf was chased by police from Huddersfield Road in Halifax on Thursday last week until it crashed on Arden Road.

It knocked down three trees and a sign post and hit a parked car, but fortunately no one was injured.

He received an eight month prison sentence at Bradford Crown Court on Tuesday after being convicted of dangerous driving, driving otherwise in accordance with his licence, no insurance and leaving the scene of an accident.

Batley and Spen MP's lab wins Westminster Dog of the Year

Tracy Brabin’s labrador Rocky has been crowned 2017’s Westminster Dog of the Year.

The Labour MP’s beautiful brown dog won The Kennel Club’s competition, which is usually won by Tories.

It’s the second time one of our local MPs’ canines have won the competition. In 2014, the then-Dewsbury - and Tory - MP Simon Reevell’s fox terrier Cosmo won.

Missing schoolgirl found safe and well

Police have confirmed that a missing 12-year-old girl has been found safe and well.

They appealed for information about the whereabouts of Ella Parnell, who lives in the Beeston suburb of Leeds, this morning but have now said she’s been found.

Shocking photos of man after 'baseball bat' attack

This man is thought to have been attacked with a baseball bat in West Yorkshire.

The family of Francis Manda, who has been in hospital for weeks, released these photos in a bid to trace the suspect.

Francis Manda was seriously injured in an assault in the Harehills area of Leeds last month.

The 43-year-old sustained a serious head injury and was taken to hospital where he has remained since the attack on September 29. Despite extensive enquiries, police have struggled to determine what exactly happened to Francis, where exactly it happened or who is responsible.

Anyone with any information can contact police on 101, quoting crime reference 13170451444. Information can also be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Missing schoolgirl

A 12-year-old girl has been reported missing in West Yorkshire.

Ella Parnell, who lives in the Beeston area of Leeds, was last seen in the area at around noon yesterday.

She is white and 5’8” with ginger/strawberry blonde shoulder-length hair.

She was last seen wearing a navy blue and white tracksuit and peach and white Adidas trainers.

Detective Inspector James Entwistle, of Leeds District CID, said: “Ella is only 12 and we are obviously very concerned for her welfare given her young age.

“Enquiries are ongoing to locate her and I would ask Ella or anyone who has information about her whereabouts to contact the SOR at Leeds District Police.”

Anyone with information about her whereabouts can contact them on 0113 3852971, quoting log 2201 of October 25.

Missing Elland woman found

Police have confirmed that a 30-year-old woman who was missing for a week has been found.

They appealed for information about the whereabouts of Kerry Gladwin, from Elland, yesterday but have now said she’s been found.

There have been a number of arrests after a man was mowed down sparking a nasty brawl in Paddock last night.

The accident is cleared now but normal traffic conditions are not expected until 10am.
