There has also been major delays around the Ainley Top area this morning following an accident on the Elland Bypass. The accident involved three vehicles and police have been at the scene. All lanes are now re-open but there have been major delays.

Four children and two adults taken to hospital

Just spoken to the fire service who assisted at the scene of the collision in Bradley this morning.

They say that six people - including four children - have been taken to hospital.

Crews from Huddersfield and Cleckheaton attended the collision this morning but luckily nobody was trapped. Rescue services looked after the casualties - who they said had been on a school run - until the ambulances came. The two adult drivers and four children - two of whom were high school age and the other two slightly younger - were taken to HRI. Their injuries are not thought to be serious and watch commander Andy Wooller said they were “suffering from shock more than anything else”.

The fire service stayed at the scene to help police clear up fuel and debris spilled on the road and assist with the traffic.
