A HOLIDAY is often one of the first things on a shopping list for a lucky lottery winner.

And so it was for Lotto winners Russell and Clare Teale, from Liversedge.

They celebrated their new found fortune but not with a cruise or a five-star luxury hotel – but in their four-berth caravan in North Yorkshire.

The couple scooped £189,998 after matching five numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on July 2.

But the celebrations were muted, as the couple set off for a short break at their favourite spot at Cawood Park in North Yorkshire, to let it all sink in.

They were joined by their two children, Samuel, eight, and Jessica, four.

Production manager Russell, 40, who plays Lotto online, found out they had won the six-figure sum when he checked his emails.

He said: “I was enjoying a rare lie-in and I thought I’d check the Lotto numbers on teletext.

“I play three lines every week and I’d also done a couple of lucky dips that week.

“I knew when I saw the winning line that my usual numbers hadn’t won anything and thought nothing of it.

“It was only later when I checked my emails that I saw I had one from Camelot saying that I’d won! One of the lucky dips had come up trumps!”

Import clerk Clare, 39, added: “We really can’t believe we’ve won.

“We plan to stay in the same house, so we’ll pay off the mortgage and we’re also thinking of getting an extension built.

“We fancy a newer car, nothing too flash, just something big enough to tow the caravan. We go away in it as much as we can as we love the outdoors and it’s great fun with the kids.”
